【Basic Kanji 10】 Based on 木~休む and 体

Hi there ! I am Kotaro who has a Nepali husband, Araam. He learns Kanji for N5 or N4 (Japanese language level),  I have been trying to find out how to memorize them easily. 

I will introduce remains of the previous post.

Last time, I shared 本 and 未.This time I introduce 休 and 体.

kanji

木 makes a lot of Kanjis

③休(休む:yasumu, 休日:kyujitsu)

休(yasu, kyu) a rest,  vacation, absence.

Katakana but narrow イ and 木 make 休.

Kanji "体" expresses that someone is taking rest learning on a tree. 人 has transformed to イ on the left.

にんべん

人 has transformed to イ

We will see a lot of kanjis which has Katakana イ on the left such as 何 , 仕, 作 and 仏........ In this case,  always イ means human beings.

 

WORDs

  • 夏休み(natsuyasumi)summer vacation
  • 冬休み(fuyuyasumi)winter vacation
  • 休む(yasumu)to take a rest, to take day off/leave
  • 休日(kyujitu)holiday
  • 休(renkyu)holidays in a row

[TIPS]

is not N4, N5 Kanji... But we may hear, "raishu ha renkyu ga aru ne!" sometimes. It means "we will have holidays in a row next week!" since we have often three holidays in a row such as weekend and a holiday on Monday.  So just remember "Renkyu" means holidays in a row.

 

④体(karada, tai)body, physique, substance,health

If we add one bar to 休, we can make 体. That means イ and 本 makes 体. As I introduced previously, 本 defines fundarmental.  

We can remenber 体 like.... Human beings'(人->イ)Fundamental(本) is body (体)

 

WORDs

  • 体(karada)body, health

--例(rei)--

体に気をつけてください(karada ni ki wo tsukete kudasai) take care yourself(your heath)

体にいい食べ物(karada ni ii tabemono) good food for health.

 

  • 大体(daitai) general, outline, almost

--例(rei)--

大体同じです(daitai onaji desu) almost same / mostly same.

 

わたしとアランの体重(taijuu)は、大体同じです・・・my weight is almost same as Araam's........
